In Lak’ech Dance Academy is introducing a structured training series for Salsa On1 and Bachata dancers, providing a clear pathway from Beginner to Advanced Beginner. Whether you’re starting fresh or refining your skills, we have the perfect level for you!
At In Lak’ech Dance Academy, we are more than just a dance studio—we are a home for the queer and trans BIPOC community to move, connect, and grow through Afro-Latin dance. Our space is built on inclusivity, empowerment, and cultural connection, ensuring that everyone, including allies, can experience the joy and depth of Salsa On1 and Bachata.

Join our 8-Week Series in Salsa and/or Bachata. These Series' start September 16th and end November 11th. Join Angélica & Jahaira, two-time World Champions, as they amplify your skills with Salsa On1 and Bachata. This series is for dancers with 6+ months of experience, and we’re here to make sure you feel at home, no matter where you are on your dance journey. Limited Availability.

At In Lak’ech Dance Studio, we’re proud to create a safe space for everyone. This series is great for couples, but partners are not required—come solo, make new friends, and connect through dance.

I had the time of my life taking the introductory series! I take a lot of dance classes to build my skills and develop as a dancer, and when I signed up for the fall series, I decided that I'd take this to have fun! And I had SO MUCH FUN! Each week I got to dance with lighthearted, funny talented, and genuinely kind folks. And because I saw most folks week after week, I developed sweet friendships with the people I danced with. We accept 30 students in each series. It is based on a first come first serve basis.
How many students are in the series?
We recommend that folks wear their masks. Please do share with Angélica and Jahaira any access needs that you might have so you can be supported to participate fully in class.
What is your Covid policy?

No, you are required to have a partner. We will be rotating partners in class.
Do I need a partner to join?
We do not offer refunds for any reason. However, your class registration can be transferred to another person if you cannot attend. Please email us at inlakechdance@gmail.com for more information.
What is your refund policy?
Yes, this series is for someone who has little to absolutely no experience dancing Bachata and or Salsa. However, if you have experience and want to brush up on your basic fundamentals, this series is for you too.
Is this series for beginners only?
Yes, we do! We never want money to stop someone from dancing. Please email us at inlakechdance@gmail.com to set up a payment plan.
Do we offer a payment plan?
If you have the time and resources to take both series, then go for it! Please be aware that you are committing yourself to 3 hours of dancing each week plus any extra rehearsal on your own.
Do you recommend we take both Salsa/Bachata series or just one series?
Our Bachata and Salsa series takes place once a week in Oakland for 60-90 minutes, depending on the Series Level you join. We offer series' that range from 12-weeks, 8-weeks, and 6-weeks.
